My home is Regina, Saskatchewan. The flat, friendly, land of the living skies. In the daytime, the sky is blue and calm but as soon as the sun sets the sky is filled with beautiful hues of orange and pink. Saskatchewan is filled with golden wheat fields and the various lakes and rivers. My story that I will be telling sets off in Saskatchewan. I will be sharing one of the moments that made me feel Canadian.
Being Canadian can be defined in many ways. To me, being Canadian means having freedom, equality, team-spirit and being apart of a society where diversity is valued. Freedom allows us to act and think without restraint. Equality in that no matter what your race, gender, class is in the end we are all equal. Team spirit is incredible because it boosts morale. Lastly, diversity helps us understand different perspectives of the world.
My story begins at Mosaic Stadium. Ever since I was a baby, my family has taken me to rider games. I’ll never forget the first time I was old enough to remember walking into the stadium. Roars from the crowd filled my little ears as I made my way in. And the smell of fresh popcorn and peanuts surrounded my nose. Right from the beginning, I was on the edge of my seat waiting anxiously for the game to begin. A coin was delicately shot promptly in the air, and the game began. As I watched the game I couldn’t help but notice the sea of green and white. In the stands, there was not a single fan that was not dressed in the appropriate attire of green and white. From this moment on, I knew that this is what it feels to be Canadian.
Experiencing rider games is something I will never forget. The incredible crowd with the most football pride is so heartwarming. The fans are so dedicated and truly “bleed green”. After attending various games I feel apart of something special and this is what it feels to be Canadian. No matter your race, gender or identity in the end if you are a rider fan we all come together and share something that many people cannot.
I really like how you describe the car race. Your description made me feel excited too. I also appreciate your description of Regina, including its team spirit and diversity. But I think there is little description of that moment, most of it is about Regina's background. Maybe you can add some movement of the car and you. Although it was just a moment, I felt your love for your hometown and your pride as a Canadian. I like your story!
